St. Stephen presents Christmas Eve Offering to Eastway Middle School
On Tuesday, Feb. 6, St. Stephen leaders met on-campus with leaders of Eastway Middle School to present $13,500 in support from our recent Christmas Eve Offering. The funds generously donated by St. Stephen members will be used to support the school’s new technology club as well as purchasing new jerseys for the school’s soccer team.
The donation was presented to Eastway Middle Principal Larenda Denien and Assistant Principal Katherine Petrillo by St. Stephen Senior Pastor Ken Curtis, Minister of Discipleship Laura Campbell, and lay leader Bev Smith.
Eastway Middle School was established in 1955 in Charlotte’s growing eastern neighborhoods. Today, the school sits in the heart of Charlotte’s international corridor along Central Ave. Today’s student body, with students from 29 different countries who speak 27 different languages, is among the most internationally diverse in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
St. Stephen’s partnership with Eastway Middle School will continue with opportunities for serving as lunch buddies and mentors. We look forward to cheering on the Eastway Jaguars soccer team! Stay tuned to the Weekly e-Bulletin for the team’s upcoming soccer game schedule.
Interested in serving or learning more? Mark you calendars for Feb. 20, 6:30pm, when we’ll host Principal Denien and Assistant Principal Petrillo for special remarks and a Q&A. The event will be held in the Youth Ministry Center at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC. Light refreshments will be served.
