Distorted: Hope
Pastor Ken delivers the third message in our new worship series, “Distorted: Misunderstood Passages of Scripture.” Last week, we explored judgement, and our first message examined “unanswered prayers.” This week, we turn our attention to the concept of hope.
Sermon Reflections:
- False Hope vs. True Hope: Pastor Ken contrasts “false hope” with “true hope.” What is the difference between these two concepts?
- What is Exile? The sermon uses the metaphor of “exile” to describe difficult times in life. Can you think of a time in your own life that felt like exile? How did you find hope during that time?
- God’s Timing vs. Our Timing: We acknowledge that God’s promises may not be fulfilled according to our timetable. How can we learn to trust in God’s timing, even when we want immediate answers or relief?
- Hope for the Future: What are some ways that faith can help cultivate hope for the future?
