The Power of Three: Communion
Ken Curtis   -

On this World Communion Sunday, we wrap-up our Power of Three series by exploring the sacrament of holy communion. In our first part, we explored the church and how each of us are called together as part of Christ’s body. Last week, we dove into another sacrament: baptism. Our short journey has helped us learn more about some of the fundamentals of our faith. Be sure to revisit part one and part two.

Sermon Reflections:

  • What role does communion play in our relationship with God and with others? How does it serve as a reminder of God’s love and how does it connect us to believers around the world?
  • How can we better prepare ourselves to receive communion? What does it mean to do a “spiritual attitude check” before coming to the table? What are some ways we can deepen our understanding and appreciation for this sacrament?
  • What is the significance of the bread and wine used in communion? How can we better appreciate the significance of these elements?
  • What does it mean to “remember” Christ’s sacrifice in the sacrament? How can communion encourage us to look back, look within, and look ahead?
  • Have you ever experienced a personal transformation as a result of participating in communion? In what ways? How have you shared this transformative power with others?
  • Can you think of challenges or misconceptions some people may have about communion? How has this sermon better prepared you to talk about communion with others? What are some ways you can encourage others to learn more about communion and to participate?
