Messengers of Comfort, Hope, and Help
Ken Curtis   -

We begin our Advent worship series, Messengers. How have people throughout history heard the voice of God? Oftentimes, it comes through interactions with God’s messengers, or angels. We’ll explore the various ways God’s messengers have brought people comfort, hope, and help.

Sermon Reflections:

  • How does the sermon illustrate the different roles and purposes of God’s messengers, both heavenly and earthly? What are some specific examples of how these messengers point us back to God?
  • In what ways does the sermon emphasize God’s presence and care, even in difficult circumstances? How do the stories of Hagar, Elijah, and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego demonstrate this?
  • How does the sermon encourage us to be earthly messengers for God? What are some practical ways we can offer hope, comfort, and peace to others, as the angels did?
  • In what ways have you experienced God’s presence through both heavenly and earthly messengers? How can you be more intentional about sharing God’s love with others?
  • How can we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ by being more mindful of God’s messengers and their role in our lives? What specific actions can we take during this Advent season?
  • The sermon discusses instances where God intervened in miraculous ways. How does this understanding of divine intervention impact our faith and our daily lives?
