Life Essentials: Serving Others
Ken Curtis   -

As we enter a time of annual renewal, we’re winding back our faith journey and turning toward the essentials. Join us every week until Lent for our new series exploring some of the foundational lessons and principles that support our journey as followers of Jesus. So far, we’ve explored the Golden Rule and Forgiveness. This week, we explore what it means to serve others.

Sermon Reflections:

  1. What insights did you glean from Pastor Ken’s explanation of the passages from Matthew’s and Mark’s gospels?
  2. How do societal views of greatness differ from the perspective presented in the biblical passages? What criteria does society often use to define success or greatness?
  3. In what ways does serving give your life meaning and fulfillment? Can you relate any personal experiences to this perspective?
  4. Everyone is called to serve and has unique gifts for service. How can you identify and use your talents for the benefit of others?
  5. Reflect on the story of Kathy and her neighbors who volunteered to help her nightly. How does this story illustrate the transformative power of service, even when individuals initially feel reluctant? What lessons can be drawn from it?
  6. Consider the concept of the “attitude of Christ” as discussed in the sermon. How can you cultivate this attitude in your daily life, and what impact might it have on your relationships and sense of purpose?
